The Location of Cha-am

Cha-am is located at the east coast in southern Thailand and 200 km away from Bangkok. Cha-am belongs to the Petchaburi Province with the equally names capital 40 km north of Cha-am.

The next neighbor in the south is Hua Hin, which belongs to the Province of Prachuab Kiri Khan already. From inner Cha-am you can reach Hua Hin after app. 25 km. The district of Cha-am stretches until app. 5 km before Hua Hin.

Along the comfortable highway to Hua Hin you can find many bigger international Hotels and Condominium buildings (eg. Dusit, Regent Holiday Inn etc.). Soon the borders between the two cities will be no longer existing. For a long time in the pipeline is the plan to create a new independent province, which would include Cha-am, Hua Hin and Pranbur (40 south of Hua Hin.

Some kilometers west from Cha-am there are stretches of moutains building the border to Myanmar (forrm. Burma). These mountains are creating a natuaral weather barrier, which is protecting Cha-am from rain. It is not uncommon to see haevy rains in Hua Hin while Cha-am being still dry.

Cha-am itself is divided into the Village west of the highway and the beach part 1.2 km east from the highway. Almost all public offices, Banks, the railway station and the markets are located at or near to the highway. Meanwhile at the beach you can also find one Bank, several ATM machines, a post office, a police station, smaller markets and verything one needs for daily live. It goes without saying that you also find all kind of Thai- and international restaurants, hotels, guesthouses and entainment venues.

In contrast to Hua Hin there is a beach 5 km long road in Cha-am, so that there are plenty of hotels and restaurants with direct seaview.

Our Location

Markets

Apart from the habit of eating, Thais have another habit: Eating on markets. Beside the smaller markets, which are held on several locations one time per week, there is the big wednesday market opposite the townhall near to the railway station. Meanwhile this market is attracting also people from Hua Hin as the layout is less touristic and cheaper prices are provided. You can buy clothes, Bags, shoes, necklace, handicrafts, electronics, pets and all what you desire at attractive prices. Of course nobody has to starve as you can see from the numerous well frequented foodstalls.
